Camouflage

Do you have kids who trash everything on your desktop or open the hard drive and start messing with the files? Wouldn't it be nice if there was a program that would allow you to hide the icons on your desktop? Well there is. There is a really cool program called Camouflage by briksoftware.com that allows you to hide the icons sitting on the desktop. What they don't see, they don't mess with. For me, when I present and I don't want people to see my messy desktop, I just camouflage it!

Cool Online piano

Here is a cool online piano. It can be controlled by a mouse or a keyboard. It is also available for download for PC or as a Dashboard Widget for a Mac. You can also imbed it on a webpage like I have done below.

Wii Whiteboard

Here is the link to the instructions for creating a Whiteboard for under $70. Sam Sennott has a great tutorial and instructional .pdf on his site. Rather than recreate the instructions, I will refer you to Sam's site. It's all about sharing and making a difference - right? Thanks Sam

Proloquo2go

I am really excited about a new AAC solution that will be coming out for iPods. I really think that iPods will become a powerful tool for the kids we work with. Plus, iPods are just really cool! This looks like a really promising application. I was able to see a demonstration of it last week.

Tar Heel Reader

There is a great resource for free accessible books. It is called the Tar Heel Reader. It is a wonderful project. These books are speech enabled and are great for those kids who are emerging readers. They have several Christmas titles that you can use in your classrooms. http://tarheelreader.org

Blooming Kids

I just purchased several programs from Bloomingkids.com. Their software is designed for kids with learning disabilities, autism, PDD and ADD. The software keeps track of progress on the lessons and will even generate charts. They currently have 37 programs. What I really like is the price. The software programs run between $14 and $16. They are also available for Windows or Mac. The Windows programs are available by download and the Mac software currently needs to be ordered.
